Description

Triumph Hurricane X75

At the end of 1972 the Triumph Hurricane was presented to the public.  The Bike was built on the basis of the BSA Rocket 3, which was released in 1969.  Triumph assigned the US Designer Craig Vetter to develop a bike for the blooming Chopper scene.  The result was impressive: The futuristic combination of seat and petrol tank, the eye catching triple exhaust system on one side and extended wishbone made the triumph a real eye catcher.  Technology wise however the X75 was old fashioned from its presentation awards.  The 740m3 three cylinder engine had an output of 58 horse power at 7250 rounds per minute.  The 201 kilogram motorbike reached a maximum speed of 170 km/h.  The petrol tank had a capacity of 9 litres only and it was hidden beneath the seat and petrol tank combination dummy that was made out of plastic.  As a result, the reach was limited and the conic drum brakes were responsible for a long braking distance.

The Triumph X75 Hurricane was only produced in limited numbers.  As a result the bike today has become a collectible, due to its very special character.
